Since Halloween is creeping up on us, it’s time we begin our Dizzywood scary storytelling. And what better day to start than today, National Writing Day! We want you to pull out all your bone-chilling tricks and give us your most haunting story. The only thing that we ask is that your story takes place in a Haunted House.
We can’t wait to read your writing, and hope you all enjoy reading each other’s scary tales! To kick things off we thought we’d share our haunted house story. If you’re having a hard time coming up with a story, feel free to continue where the following story leaves off!
Truth or Dare
They slammed the door shut behind me, then immediately opened it to throw me a dying flashlight. I flicked it on and could only see as far as the laces on my shoes. In case I needed my friends to rush in, they allowed me to tie a metal whistle to my wrist, to blow if I chickened out. The rest of the town must have already gone to sleep, it was so late. And here I was about to take on a dare to sit inside the attic of old Mrs. Whittaker’s abandoned haunted house, alone, for half an hour. I told everyone, “sure, no biggy” with a slight tone of confidence that was quickly wearing off as I began to climb up the third floor staircase.
As if it was waiting for me, the narrow staircase leading to the attic appeared closer than I had wished. Halfway up the steps, I felt a finger tap the bottom of my pants. My eyes began tearing a little, hoping it was one of my friends playing a nasty joke on me, but I knew I would never convince myself of that. I had made it all the way up here without hearing any of them following me. I took one more step and was able to peep a glance of the attic flooring.
The flashlight was the only friend I had now, and we were going to sit up here for thirty minutes. Today is not your day to have your batteries die, I whispered as I took the last step up. I decided not to shine my light around the attic. I didn’t want to see what else might have been up there. So I took my seat on what felt like a battered pillow near my escape route. Did it even matter if I kept my eyes closed? I’m guessing five minutes went by before I began hearing small whispers. My friends were all outside, but the whispers sounded like they were coming from inside the attic. I tucked my body into a ball, not wanting to feel anything touch me, and just as I did something tugged my hair and giggled. I refused to open my eyes. Just start counting, I told myself hoping that would help the time go by faster. If I had known what was going to happen when I reached 406 I never would have counted…

i was off to school
but litle did i know this very day somthing strange would happen

to do i treid teling mom and dad but hey wouldnt listen
they thought i was kidding its just like them on halloween

and when i got to school i knew i could tell my freinds
because this sort of thing happen but everyone exsept are memories got deleted so i told them they laughed at me why does no one ever belive me
it was time for first perioud while the teacher was talking i was daydreaming
about the horror that was going to happen
the the teacher talked to me to see if i was listening i obviously wasnt
he asked me a+b+u= i said were all doomed the whole classed laughed and i got an detention my best freind sally said whats up with u i jsut sighed and said nothing because it jsut wasnt me that as going to feel down it was anyone who putts on costumes for it i ddi not know what i was going to do it was second period
Chapter 2 The fire that nobody did
As are teacher was going on a quantum physics
theres was little flames of fire nobody saidanything
until it got bad and i had to shout
Fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee everyone ran but who casued it everyone was in class not a person or a thing did it but i could see up the fairy did and he whispered in my ear very slow queit twelve hours till midnight
It was lunch my favourite part of the day but i haunted me because it was 11 hours 1minutes until midnight now after school im going to find the fairy
and ask what it wants so they wouldnt turn into wat there wearing and we can sjut enjoy halloween like last year when it rained candy it was 3.00 school had ended i met that fairy on the way home and i asked what it wants to stop the terror from happening
it wanted
vampire cloak
warewolfs hair
bats blood
and last off all a human teeth
so i went to the far cornor of the south i found a vampire old cloak
it was crumbly but it was on a vampire it said i had to fight it to get it
i said very well i kicked it but i dodged and tried to bite me i kicked him
and he wen t on the floor kow pow knockout and i won a took his cloak and put it in my bag.
Now for warewolfs hair i went to east of the land of hairs.The
warewolf was nice and gave it to me but it had flees on it so it put in
hiself now i went north and i found bats blood dripping for a bat so i took it and ran cause the bat was cahsing after me but then slowed down cause he was dripping now a human teeth i remember my tooth fell out and i kept it in my pocket i took that and put it in my bag the fairy apeared and i gave it to him but he didnt make it better he wnated a freind so i found a dog for him he made halloween better and how it was and a minute before midnight

Almost Halloween and heres a story
Once upon a time there were three bffs named noel, mealine, and mia.
On Halloween night they were in Presto’s Edge going from house to get candy,
by the time it was 10:00 they had visted every single house there was, every
single house exept the Haunted Manor. Mia said, ” Hey guys let’s go to
the Haunted Manor its the only house we have left”. “Yeah mabye if we go we
will get a HUGE reward for being so brave and going in there”, Mealine agreed.
“Uh……..I…I d….d..don’t know about this”, Noel said with her voice shaking.
“Oh come on you ALWAYS ruin our chances of doing something fun”, Mia said.
“A…A..Alright but I hope I won’t regreat this”, Noel said. So the girls aproached the Haunted Manor, and when Mia was about to open the gate someone opened
it for them. It was Bram THE Bram! He said, “Velcome ladies isin’t a bit late
to be trick-or-treating”? Noel shrieked, Bram grabbed her and said to her
” Vhat is the matter dear”? I…………I……I’m……………n….n..not s..scared…
of ..y..y..you”! Noel cried. “You shouldn’t have said that” Bram said grinning.
He grabbed her and they dissapeared. “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mealine” said crying. “Its ………..o………….o……..ok she’ll be back” Mia said.

She ran into the Haunted Manor and disapered forever. Mia had been disgusted by
everyone she knew so she ran away and no one ever bothered to find her.

One day i was at school (as always) And we all heard a weird noise we turned around and when we turned back around our teacher Mrs.ovial was gone i said “wheres mrs ovial” everybody replied back “idk” (we were all scared) me and my freinds lexie and aliana said “i will go tell the princable” everybody said “ok” as we were walking a giant spider was crawling accroused the wall lexie screamed I said “wat?” (lexie pointed at the spider) (aliana ran back to the class room) we began walking,when we got to the office we asked for mrs gibson she said “ok she is in her office” (we walked in her office) mrs gibson said “yes??” we said “we cannot find our teacher” she said “hmmmm” (me and lexie stared at each other) then mrs.gibson froze “umm” said lexie (i hit her) she still did not move (we walked back to the class room) as we sat down we heard a voice “booooo i will kill u” (we all stared at eachother) (taylor screamed) :O (mrs.ovial appeared in the room) “were where u?” we asked “i cant remember” said mrs.ovial THE END
Here’s my story… Enjoy! The sky was dark and full of blood sucking bats. A girl walked down the path to the Haunted House of the Dead. Her name was Rachel and she was thirsty so she decided to get a drink from the well near the house. She walked closer and closer and finally she was at the well. She looked in and found five bodies. Their flesh were eaten by birds because birds were still trying to find meat. Rachel ran as fast as she could to home. It was right of the haunted house. As she ran she saw a shadow of a little girl about her age. It came closer and as it walked blood was dripping off her head. “Hello?” Rachel asked. Rachel shivered. Then the shadow disapeared. She was so scared that went into the house because her home was about a mile away and the haunted house was closer. When she walked in, there was a hallway leading to a long dinner table. The hallway had torches handing to a wall. “There’s some food and water to drink.” she whispered. But then she saw what was a creamish thing at the end of the table. It looked like a monster. She walked closer and finally seven little fairy popped up. “Oh please don’t eat the food or the drinks, it will wake the monster up.” fairy one said. Rachel ignored and her stomach growled. “I’m so hungry I can’t walk a mile to home and what will happen if the monster wakes up?” Rachel asked as she looked at all the food.” “He will eat us all, now get out of here.” said fairy number seven. “No way look at all the food.” Rachel said. “Very well human, you’re not very smart don’t blame me when all of us get eaten.” said the third. “Fairies what is in the safe?” “Why are you here?” Rachel asked. “Well we don’t know why we are here and if you want to know what is in the safe grab a red pebble and put it in the middle.” said the fifth fairy. ” Then grab a blue one and put it under the red, there will be places to put them. “Ok and then I will enjoy my dinner.” “She’s not very smart.” whispered the fairies. “Maybe we can escape the monster.” Rachel looked at the monster. It had a eye but the other was missing. The monster had a plate full of grapes. The spoon and the fork were at its right and the butter knife was at the left by itself. She went to the safe and did as the fairies had said to open the the safe. She grabbed a red pebble and made sure it fit on the hole and then she grabbed a blue one and made sure it fit. The safe opened. There lay a jewled knife and a piece of old paper. She read: You have to stab the monster in the heart when it is awakened. When you do this the house will fall, the door will be locked so grab the ladder near the entrance and climb out the door over your head. The fairies stared at the paper. Rachel ran to the table and ate a roll. Suddenly the monster moved his hand and grabbed a grape and made it his other eye. The monster got up and walked toward the fairies and the fairies were too slow and they all got eaten by the monster under a minute. Rachel saw green blood and gutts on the monster’s mouth. She ran as fast as she could to the ladder and grabbed it and there was a door over her head so she climbed up the ladder half way and the monster bit her leg and blood dripped down. Then the monster finally let go of her leg and Rachel climbed out and ran home. The End? will she ever do what the paper said
WHOOPS messed up on part 4. Well here’s the WHOLE thing.
I slowly opened my eyes and quickly noticed I was in my room. Blinking a few times I sat up. Then it came back to me. Tanner. The clearing. Death… I stepped out of bed and into my slippers. It was freezing. Putting on a robe I tip-toed out of my room. Stepping into the kitchen I fixed a bowl of cereal and went back up to my room. Softly closing the door behind me I set the bowl on my dresser. Opening a drawer I grabbed a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. Quietly I got dressed and ate the cereal. Taking a brush from my dresser I put my blonde hair into a ponytail, and tied it back with an orange hair-tie. My sweatshirt had an orange Jack-O-Lantern on it and the hair tie did too. I stepped back from the mirror and admired my handi-work. My attention snapped back. Footsteps. Grabbing my math book and a pencil I got on my bed right as my Dad came through the door. Looking up I smiled at him. “So you’re doing your homework huh?” he asked. I nodded and scribbled some anwsers on a piece of paper. He nodded approval. “Your mother and I are going to the market. We’ll be back in about 3 hours.” he said. “Okay, Dad. Bye now.” I said. He turned and left. About half an hour later I heard the car pull out of the drive-way. Jotting down the last answer the telephone rang. Sighing, I picked it up. “Abby? Is that you? OhMyGosh, have you seen Tanner? Jacob and Kory have gone missing too.” It was Tanner’s family. “I’m sorry.” I said. “But, no.” I heard a click and I set the phone down. Shaking my head softly I got up and put a jacket on. “Might as well figure out this mystery.” I thought. “But I only have 3 hours to do so.”

PART 5:
A storm had started while I was doing my homework. As I walking towards the door a flash of lightening lit up the whole room. Then, everything went black. I woke up with a major headache. Like before, my attention to my surroundings snapped back. Someone was calling my name. “Abby?” it said. “I’ve missed you so much.” the voice sounded so familiar. A picture flew across my mind and I gasped. There was no possible way… “No, it couldn’t be…” I told myself. “No, she died last year. Im dreaming.” Her picture stayed glued to my mind.
Tabby. My little sister. Just thinking about her brought memories back from when she died. Her screams. The fire. She had died in a fire at the school last year. Her and so many others… all of them being 2nd graders. They had been trapped because debris fell over the door blocking them. Their teacher was with them. I looked up and saw her ghost.
A little girl with blonde braids down her back holding a teddy bear stood before me. She was wearing a pink tutu with ribbons on it and a fluffy pink shirt to go with. That was what she was wearing when she was in the fire. By now, the tutu had holes in it. The shirt only had one intact sleeve, the other had been half way burnt off. In her hair was a tiara, I had given it to her for her birthday. That was the week before the fire.
She reached out her hand to me. “I miss you too Little Sis” I said. But, before I could reach my hand back to her she dissolved into mist. I sighed sadly and looked down. Suddenly, I heard another voice. “Abby? Wanna hang out together?” it asked. I bit my lower lip to keep from crying. “Mallory?” I asked. “Is that you?” I looked up. The ghost nodded.
She had brown hair that went to her shoulders, freckles across her face, and bright blue eyes. She was wearing a blue and yellow plaid sweater vest, a plain black skirt and pure white tennis shoes. Well, they were purely white except for the bright red stains on them. The rest of her clothing had red stains on them too. She had died in a car crash about 3 months ago. The driver that hit her obviously meant to. She faded away after awhile and then another flash of lightening and I was back in my room.

HAPPY HOLLOWEEN MOM AND DAD happy holloween gwin [not my real naym tho]better get ready or youll be late to school.okay bye ugh my parents didnt care again they just wanted me to take my bby brother trick or treating too!I was not surprised when they said take your brother trick or treating with you when you go ugh okay fine!I yelled back.they were makin me do it again I ran upstairs to our bathroom with the big mirror and a big door that is all bricked up I went up to the mirror and there was a voice that sais something to me it said stay away from the big door and dont obey your parents ever because they are vampires . scared and horrified I smashed the mirror into a million peices then I saw my house on the wall being drawn with a bunch of police around it they said stay far away from this house and never come back SOMEONE WAS DRAWING MY HOUSE! I was so scared I broke the wall I got into my coustume and figured I wasnt scared anymore probably someone pullin a trick on me.I will get them back I walked to school alone I had to go through the deep dark alley again in order to get to school.They must be late I figured yes my friends are always late ill wait by the dumpster for them so I went over to the dumpster and saw my two bffs gettin tied up I looked behind me and saw them I screamed and hit the guys the guys dropped my two bffs and then they murmered go to milindia. twighlight you must you have the vampire twist okay so I skip school? yes you do okay so I went to milindas house and she said to go talk to starly okay I said so I went and talked to starly and she said that her whole family needed to help in order for the cure to work so she called her whole family and they said HCUOT ERIPMAV confused I went outside and nothing bad happened YAY IM SAFE I yelled

one day i was at school when are class was learning it sounded like someone is makin noise but it was no one then a window started to move then i checked what was making the noise and it was a vampire it nilly bit me but my friend grabed me then the teacher went out and told the whole school then there came a zombie and diffent things everyone was sceard so they quick got out and went to my home teachers went to talk with my mum and dad even they had a sleepover next day ghosts went near my home me and my friends dident know what was it but i said lets woke are eyes so we did it worked said one of them so we all checked what was it and it was ghosts one was very silly it puted funny faces so we looked at the window then another ghost was doing a chiken sound and action so me and my friends laughed at that one then the other ghost said to come out to the garden so we did then it said stad here and we did then we were stuck like in a big bucket and then it puted a blanket a sticky one and sticked it on the bucket so i called help in my loudest voice and mhark he said come on lets help and get mum and dad then they did i called and called until they came then i stoped and said can u get that blanket off we want to get out then mhark pulled the blanket off and he said who did that a tricking ghost then i got a message from my phone it said we can come back to school so i called everyone every loudly and i said we can come back to school so we went back to school and learned. One Halloween night, WallE was stuck in a Bram’s Haunted Manor. WallE was so thirsty. Then she saw a glass with a some sort of liquid in it. She drank it. Then she felt an electric shock. She got out the next day. She walked to school and the class bully started teasing her. She got so mad. She felt her skull change. Seconds later, she was a pale green dragon. The class bully ran of screaming like a little girl. Walle tested her wings. A couple minutes later, she learned how to fly and breath fire. The next day, WallE figurd out that she could turn into a dragon when she was mad. When she was a dragon, she had to be calm to turn back into a human. One day. Somebody saw her turn into a human. That person was a reporter! He had got it all on tape. From that day, everybody was trying to kill her. She hid in two places. The Crstal Catacombs and the Chasm. She hides her identedity. Her new name is now Millie74.
