Excavation Findings

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on October 5, 2008 – 2:14 pm -

Good day Explorers! My excavations throughout Dizzywood are proving to be very successful. I’ve made countless findings, and oh yes, a great thank you to all of you that have been assisting me. You have all been so helpful and quite knowledgeable on knowing how to preserve delicate mud impressions. So I must tell you that I’ve had some time to do a more thorough examination of the footprint you’ve brought to me, and it does indeed look to be from the creature that I have been following since I was a young lad. I’m not quite sure which specific creature the print belongs to, but there is no doubt in my mind that an Ancient has made it! Things like this take time to investigate, so when I come across new information I promise to send it your way. My brother Pierre of course thinks otherwise, but that is quite okay. I’ll make a believer of him someday, when he’s not thinking of what bugs would make a wholesome bug stew!

I must be on my way now. There is still much to excavate in this vast land. It is all so exciting, wouldn’t you say? Papa would be so proud of me!

Many thanks for your help Explorers!

Hocus Pocus, Stars and Telescopes

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on October 1, 2008 – 10:08 pm -

As childhood friends, two small owls came together underneath starlit nights to play a weekly game of Chess. Nocturne would take his time scientifically planning each move, while friend Archimedes could be heard casting spells just waiting to call checkmate.

“My friend, you will never win a game of skill with magic,” Nocturne would say. “I am sorry, but the only way to win is to know your opponents moves through mathematical probabilities!”

As they continued to grow, their arguments did as well and it soon came time for the both of them to attend university. There was no question about it, eager to possess higher magical abilities Archimedes was going to mentor with a wizard. “Wait until you see my new magical powers,” Archimedes told his friend, “then you’ll see that magic is far superior to science!”  It didn’t matter much to Nocturne, he had chosen a different path. He was on his way to Skypoint Observatory to study the phenomena that comes from outside our atmosphere. Nocturne was determined to gain a richer understanding of our world through the stars he could see every night.

Years went by without the two friends speaking to each other, they were so busy with their studies. But they never once put each other out of their minds. Archimedes sighed at the image of his lifelong friend staring off into the stars wasting his time with his telescopes, while Nocturne giggled at the thought of Archie with a staff in his hands, mumbling his hocus pocus.

Upgrades to Dizzywood

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on September 26, 2008 – 6:28 pm -

Hi everyone!

Dizzywood has gone through a big upgrade! Old time users, don’t be shocked by the changes. Lots of things have changed including how to get to Rat Wraith’s lair. To access his haunted well, you’ll have to travel through Wildwood Glen. If you have any other questions, feel free to discuss among yourselves as you explore and uncover all the new changes.

Prestos Grove will now serve as a place for new users to orient themselves with the world they will soon explore. And Prestos Edge will become a place for Explorers to easily travel from one place to another. You’ll be able to quickly shop for furniture, clothing, and other accessories in the Edge while crossing a bridge into the dark Tanglevine Jungle. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Here are a couple pictures of the new changes!

Happy exploring!

Learn to Throw an Emote

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on September 26, 2008 – 4:06 pm -

Do you know how to throw emotes? Throwing emotes is a new function that’s really easy to learn, and once you know how to do it, you’ll be able to throw emotes really fast!

First you’ll need to assign some emotes to your new Hotkey Bar. As you can see in the picture below, we’ve assigned the number 5 and the number 8 with emotes. This means that whenever I type the number 5 or the number 8 I’ll be able to emote someone.

Now move your mouse over the people that you want to emote. Keeping your mouse over that person, press the number key (on your keyboard) that corresponds with the emote you want to throw.  (For our example, we’re going to press the number 5 and give our friends a High Five emote, see next picture)

Yay! I just threw some High Five emotes to my friends! (You’ll know that you did it correctly if you see the emote get thrown from your avatar to another avatar!)

Let us know if this works for you, and have fun throwing your emotes! :)

Excavating with H.C. Le Snout

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on September 25, 2008 – 5:31 pm -

Pierre has warned me against excavating in Dizzywood, but he’ll see. I’ll find him evidence of Dizzywood’s long sought out Ancients. I still believe they continue to roam these lands, and you should too. My research on these elusive fantasical creatures began years ago when I was still able to count my age on two hands.

Papa had taken me on a hike. Papa decided to take a break, eat some snacks and ponder the hike ahead of us. My legs were not ready to rest, so I journeyed on my own for a few minutes. “Not too far”, Papa said.

Pierre was never a fan of Papa’s hikes, but he loved when it was snack time, so he stayed behind as usual and played in the kitchen. It’s no wonder he became a great chef! I remember staring at the ground, kicking pebbles aside, and noticing a shiny bundle of feathers in assorted colors. I picked away some rocks, and noticed they were all stuck together. They did not appear to look like the average parcel of feathers, by no means belonging to any bird.

I’d uncovered something fascinating and unknown, and couldn’t wait to take it back to Papa! I placed the feathers in my side pocket, and glanced down. To my own disbelief there was a rather large footprint in the earth below me. Large I tell you! How large? Large enough for me to lay down inside of it. Yes, that large!

New Functionality

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on September 23, 2008 – 6:15 pm -

Dizzywood has been working on some really cool features that we’re sure you’re all going to love! Next time you login you’ll notice the new hotkey functionality at the bottom of your screen that is going to make powers, skateboards, emotes, moxie mulch, and everything in your backpack so much faster to get to!

Want to pull out your skateboard as soon as you’re done traveling to Skytown? Easy! Just assign a skateboard to one of the hotkeys, and you’ll be able to click that key on your actual keyboard whenever you want your skateboard.

Here are a couple easy steps to get started:

1) Click on the small “+” sign on the bottom left corner of your screen to start

2) Now go through your backpack and choose anything that you’d like to get to faster (helpful hint: It might be a good idea to pick things you use a lot, like your powers, skateboard, or moxie mulch!)

3) After you’ve decided what you want to assign to a hotkey, you’ll notice them turn light green. Now click on whichever key you want!

4) Now you’re done, and can hotkey like crazy!

And another thing! Are you ready for this Explorers?

We’ve also included the feature of auto-targeting to make emoting, or zapping a group of buddies easier. To use this feature all you need to do is hold your mouse over all the people you want to emote while pressing that particular hotkey.

Have fun Explorers!

A Few Changes

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on September 21, 2008 – 8:39 pm -

Hello Explorers!

We’re sure that you are all busy accomplishing your new missions, but we just wanted to take a few moments to remind you of a few changes that have been made.

“Dizzy Activities” have now moved over to your “Missions” tab. Every Friday you’ll notice three new missions associated with the message you get upon entering Dizzywood. Checking the bulletin board in Presto’s Grove will also allow you stay up to date with the most current activity.

If you see a lock next to one of your missions that means that you have to complete a previous mission before you can unlock it.

If you have any questions, just let us know! And remember that Dizzywood uses Pacific Time, so depending on where you are in the world, it may be a few hours into Friday before you see your new missions pop up!

News from the Shores of Breakwater Beach

Written by dizzywoodexplorersjournal on September 17, 2008 – 5:12 pm -

Wassup my gnarly Explorers! Cecil Sideshuffle here, your one stop shop for custom made goods just chillin’ off the Dizzywood coastline. Anyway, so this is what happened. There I was just watching my waves curl like nobody’s business, and some glass bottle slams up against my claw. I was like, “Yo man! I gotta use that claw to catch me some waves!” But it didn’t say anything back, so I picked it up. I examined it, no doubt, but all I saw was some ugly looking paper inside.

I took it out, and what do you know! It was a letter from good ol’ Mr. Hawksbill, oops, I mean Admiral Hawksbill. Don’t even let him hear you say different, seriously. So the letter said something like, “Strong storm on the seas….need to stop for supplies..yada…yada…yada”. I’m totally stoked to see the Admiral. Hopefully my beach will be to his liking to stay a while.

Catch you on the waves,

Cecil Sideshuffle
