Presto the Raccoon

Background:
A number of years ago, a raccoon in our world was rummaging through a particularly abundant garbage can when he came upon a strange hole in the ground. Curious and hoping the hole held more rotten fish and leftover fast food, the raccoon descended into it. There was a flash and the raccoon found himself falling through the air. A few moments later, he landed on something soft and bumpy.

“Ahoy there!” a voice cried up to him. “What are you doing on my airship?”

“Your airship?” the raccoon replied. “I don’t even know where I am. Or how I can suddenly speak!”

“Ah,” the airship driver said, “a new visitor! Well, we’d better get you to Dizz. He likes to meet all the new visitors.”

Airship pilot Albert Higgins (father of airship pilot Wesley Higgins) brought Presto to meet The Great Dizz, one of the giant benevolent elemental creatures who roamed the strange, alien world the young raccoon found himself in.  Presto (as he decided he would be called) and Dizz became fast friends.

They spent many years going on adventures and exploring Wildwood Forest and greeting new animal visitors to the world, before Dizz decided he needed to wander, as all the elemental Ancients tend to do.  (Dizz hasn’t been seen since.)  Presto took it upon himself to help new visitors to the world. He named the area Dizzy’s Woods, which got shortened over the years to Dizzywood. With the help of the mechanical genius Chanjo the chameleon, they built the powerful tubes that draw in anyone falling out of the sky and plop them down in Presto’s Grove.

Presto the raccoon is one of the most famous citizens of Dizzywood.  And one of its friendliest.  Most recently, Presto served four years as Chief Poobah of Wildwood Forest.  Katherine de Claw was elected his successor.
