San Francisco, Calif.January 16, 2009Dizzywood, a virtual world and online game for children ages 8-12, brings in the new year with “Quests for Change,” a series of monthly charity events that encourage children to participate in value-based activities, such as virtual food drives, clothing donations and helping the environment. Upon completion of each quest, players are directed to links where they can learn more about getting involved in real-world causes in their communities.
Starting today, players will be asked to help deliver medicine to sick sprites in Dizzywood and spend time with them during their recovery. Players will then be encouraged to help sick kids and others in emergencies and to check out volunteer opportunities in real life, such as the Ronald McDonald House and American Red Cross. Players can learn more by visiting: http://www.dizzywood.com/doing-good.html
In December, players found and then contributed a food parcel in support of a virtual food drive. Presto, one of Dizzywood’s characters, then designated the parcels to needy members of the Dizzywood forest.
"Quests for Change aims to show players that making change in our communities is not just about contributing money, but also contributing time and taking action," said Scott Arpajian, co-founder of Dizzywood. "These quests highlight the ability for kids to translate their play in Dizzywood into real-world impact."
Dizzywood is free to use. Gold Explorer subscriptions that allow access to premium content are available starting at $4.95 per month.
