SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.July 2, 2009Dizzywood (http://www.dizzywood.com) players are striving to earn achievement badges at Virtual Camp Dizzywood this summer. The badges, a new feature of Dizzywood’s Achievement Program, are awarded in several areas, such as gardening and exploring, which are designed to build confidence and provide a connection for children to participate in real-world activities in their communities.
Achievement badges are also awarded to players for specific accomplishments in-game, such as helping to rebuild the road to Canal City, or voting in the annual election for Chief Poobah. When kids earn a badge, it is displayed in the game on their player profile card for friends to see.
In addition to encouraging individual achievements, Dizzywood is also hosting a virtual summer camp, primarily focused on a meta-game of Color War, designed to foster teamwork and cooperation among players. Kids are rewarded with team points after completing activities in the game, such as monster battling and archaeology digs. Special events include capture the flag and a worldwide marathon.
"Badges compliment Dizzywood’s Achievement Program, which includes values-based activities that are fun and entertaining, while building self-confidence," said Scott Arpajian, co-founder of Dizzywood. " We’re using the theme of a virtual summer camp to bring kids together and engage in collaborative play online."
Dizzywood is free to use. Gold and Silver Explorer subscriptions that allow access to premium content are available starting at $4.95 per month. A subscription to Dizzywood can also be earned by completing educational activities at Smarty Card (http://www.smartycard.com)
